Non-traditional teams are a new experiment for iGEM 2009.  This new category enables participation of other teams that are interested in iGEM but in a limited capacityNon-traditional teams will also pay a registration fee and Jamboree attendance feesAt the iGEM 2009 Jamboree in November, teams will give a flash 5-minute presentation and present a poster.  The non-traditional teams will NOT be eligible for the standard prizes from the iGEM judging committee but might be eligible for a single award specific to non-traditional teams.

* The Non-traditional team option is for those who wish to participate in iGEM on an individual basis either in a wetlab/experimental capacity or in a software tools role.  This first year is a trial run to extend the iGEM and Jamboree experience to participants who otherwise cannot take part in iGEM in a traditional role on a teamParticipants in this category will be required to apply, be accepted, and register just as traditional iGEM teams do.  A registration fee does apply ($500 USD), as does the normal Jamboree attendance fee ($400 USD)Each participant will be given to opportunity to give a 5-minute presentation as well as to present their work on a poster during the Jamboree.
