Interview
We are very honored to have Dr. JD Huang and Dr. JJ Wang as the frontiers in molecular biology research to share some of theirs views on some important issues in genetic engineering with us.
The discussion was built up on mainly 5 questions and below are some extracts of our discussion with them.
iGEM = iGEM team member; DR.H = Dr. JD Huang; DR.W = Dr. JJ Wang

iGEM: First of all, to get some warm up. Why do you choose to become a researcher in the molecular biology field. What makes you to devote your lifetime to this specific scientific area?
iGEM: How about the importances of genetic engineering. Does it have a bright future ahead of it?
iGEM: As you all know, there are some people out there who go against genetic engineering, such as GM food. They visualize genetic engineering as a dangerous and unethical practice. Do you share the same view with them?
iGEM: Now comes to the more community-related bit. As everyone know, Hong Kong is a financial-based city, do you think that the general Hong Kong public know much about genetic engineering in terms of some basic principles and applications ? Or, do they even care about the development of Science in Hong Kong?
iGEM: What can be done this improve this situation?
iGEM: To be honest, many people regard scientists/researchers as some crazy people doing things that no one can understand. Did you have the same impression as well before you enter to university?
iGEM: How can we change this kind of impression that the general public are holding. Is there really a gap between the science and the public? How can we change the situation?
