Coloured pigment: Carotenoid

Introduction

Carotenoid are organic pigments that are naturally present in plants, algae, and some bacteria. Carotenoids can be categorised into xanthophylls (which contain oxygen) and carotenes (which are purely hydrocarbons, and contain no oxygen).
