Arsenic is a potent toxin leading to necrotic cell death and multi-system organ failure. Many areas of the world are affected by ground-water contamination with arsenic with an estimated total of 137 million people affected. Our goal this year is to engineer E. coli to combat this pollution by sequestering arsenic.
