GENEART Offer

As an iGEM sponsoring partner, GENEART will be providing teams with low-cost gene synthesis. Some highlights of the program are below. For more information see the GENEART's [http://www.geneart.com/index.php?id=284 iGEM offer page].

GENEART offer highlights:

  • All iGEM orders must be placed via GENEART’s fully automated online affiliate, Mr. GENE (www.mrgene.com)
  • All iGEM2009 teams must register an authorized team account with Mr. Gene prior to placement of the first order to identify themselves as iGEM2009 participants. Instructors will be contacted by Mr. Gene to accomplish this
  • Sponsorship period ends Sept 30th, 2009.
  • Each team is allocated 2,500 bp of DNA synthesis during the iGEM2009 competition
  • Maximum length 1 kb per construct
  • Constructs will be subcloned into a GENEART standard vector

Note that since teams are required to submit parts in a Registry-supported plasmid backbone, you will have to transfer your GENEART-sythesized part into an acceptable plasmid backbone. Keep this in mind when planning your gene synthesis schedule.

Mathworks Offer

In their role as an iGEM sponsoring partner, [http://www.mathworks.com/index.html The Mathworks] will provide MATLAB software for those teams who wish to use it.

The software package includes:

  • MATLAB®
  • Bioinformatics Toolbox™
  • Curve Fitting Toolbox
  • Genetic Algorithm and Direct Search Toolbox™
  • Optimization Toolbox™
  • SimBiology®
  • Statistics Toolbox™
  • Symbolic Math Toolbox

SimBiology Webinar

New: [http://www.mathworks.com/webex/recordings/igem_simbio_042409/index.html Archived webinar video] (launches in a separate window)

The Mathworks has also created a SimBiology webinar to introduce teams to SimBiology, a MATLAB based tool for modeling, simulating, and analyzing biochemical pathways.

Topics to be covered in the webinar include:

  • SimBiology’s graphical and programmatic interfaces for model creation
  • Built-in simulation and analysis functionality which include:
  • Data-fitting and parameter estimation
  • Sensitivity analysis and parameter scans
  • ODE/DAE & Stochastic solvers
  • Advanced analysis via custom analysis tasks written in MATLAB
  • Customized report generation to capture your modeling workflow

A Q&A session will follow the presentation and demos.

Date: Friday, April, 24, 2009
Time: 11:00am (EDT), 8:00am (EDT)

For more information see the Mathworks SimBiology page.
