iGEM General Meeting - Monday, July-13-09 Jason is taking minutes

Flights: The flights have been settled. According to Dan, we leave Thursday 29th at 5 pm enter Toronto at 11pm where we have a 7 hour layover, and we get to Boston at 8 am on the 30th. We leave on the November 2nd at 5 pm. Website Wiki Video Enoch has been working on the last few items attached to the wiki. There was a vote for drop menu types. They could either be horizontal (4 votes), or vertical (7). The vertical drop down menus will be used. We also have a miniblog on our website. Video The first draft of the video is complete and it will be posted privately on YouTube so everyone can see it and give opinions on it. Posting will occur tomorrow. Subteam Updates Bead Team The Bead Team has been very productive. The new user system works and works better than our old system. The beads were found to stick to DNA. New system makes it so that we don’t have to use the nicking enzymes. Binding capacities for the beads has been determined. Ask Justin for any other additional details. Plasmid Team Nobody is here from the plasmid team PCR Team Jen is working hard. The plasmid team will start cloning soon. ReBoot Team

	Mcherry cloning did not work.  We need to obtain Pure + cells.

Recombineering Starting to assemble the fragments to insert into host chromosome. Mitch is on vacation.

Bioinformatics Team has worked mainly on Modeling. Simulations were run and it was found that the model determined 100 genes which were not in the literature list. WTF man, WTF…. They are attempting to optimize the media, and rationalize some of the info that they have. Business Reaching out to corporate businesses and sending out proposals. Presentation seminars Summary Max, Dan Kelly, David, Emera, and Oscar are so far the people that may present at AGEM and iGEM. We need to do a day where we update everyone on what is being done. These presentations will occur once a month until the competition. Presently motioned to survey volunteers and part-timers for the best day that works for them, but temporary date will be Saturday July 25. Julia needs to get a key for the weekend. Apparently the door is locked on the weekend now so just need to fill out a form and give a deposit. Part-Timers Make sure to sign your name. Round Table. Erin motion to make Dan a volunteer instead of full time. This will be discussed at next weeks meeting. Max, James, Justin and Kelly Seconded .
