Today we continued to go over the basics of molecular biology continuing from where we left off with yesterday. We also started to talk briefly about Quorum Sensing, the topic of this year's project. We spent some time watching some TED talks by Bonnie Bassler which were really helpful in giving us a better idea of what exactly Quorum Sensing is as well as its importance in nature. | Today we continued to go over the basics of molecular biology continuing from where we left off with yesterday. We spent a lot of time together as a group in this first week, getting to know each other and learning about our project with Thane and Sonja. Our Second Life team (Patrick, Mandy, Katie & Stefan) continued to explore and get acquainted with Second Life, starting to get ideas about what we can do in it. Our modeling team (Vicki, Chinnee, Kevin, Carol) spent some time looking over the modeling sections of previous teams Wikis to see what they did for the modelling section of their project. The Wiki team (Jeremy & Emily) continued to browse old Wikis for ideas on menus, toolbars and general formatting. |
