Library of the university
The University of Leuven has its roots back in the 15th century. The university was founded in 1425 as Studium General by Paus Martinus V. K.U. Leuven is the oldest of the catholic university in the world.

In the 16th century the university was at its first peak and it earned worldwide fame thanks to brilliant scientist and professors as Adriaan van Utrecht, Mercator, Vesalius, Erasmus and Vives. Up to the present day, this is still one of the university's tradions. The university can look back onto a glorious past
