Project Abstract

We are now proceeding SOME projects simultaneously. Below is the abstract of each plan.

1)Reconstruction of mitochondria (or chloroplast), 2)Recreation of Firefly-like Synchronization, 3)Genetic Expression Depending on Cell division, 4)The possibility of genetically modified, ADH1 & ALDH2 producing lactobacilli.

Project Description

Reconstruction of mitochondria

What will happen when "prepared" liposomes are injected into a cell ?What is the difference between cells and endosymbionts ?

For the Recreation of Firefly-like Synchronization

Firefly is bioluminescent insect famous for its bioluminescence catalyzing enzyme luciferase. In mating, they synchronize the phase of their luminescence and play a silent symphony. This time, for the recreation of firefly-like synchronization, we will try to make a new synthetic device which enables optical communication between bacterial cells.

Genetic Expression Depending on Cell division

In biotechnology, genes in vectors soon express after transformation. We want the genes to express depending on the number of cell division after transformation. Ultimately, we want to make a system that can control freely the generation of genetic expression after transformation.

The possibility of genetically modified, ADH1 & ALDH2 producing lactobacilli

Can we become a heavy drinker if they join in our resident flora?
