All workshop dates have been finalized!

MIT (date: May 16/17) Europe (date: June 20/21) Asia (date: June 27/28)

At the beginning of the summer, we run a set of workshops for iGEM teams. The purpose of these workshops is to provide background about iGEM and synthetic biology, to teach some of the fundamental philosophies and ideas of iGEM and synthetic biology, to pass on important information for this year's iGEM season, and to get teams to know each other before the season begins. For the convenience of the community, we run one workshop in the US, one in Europe, and one in Asia.

Dates for the workshops will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

Workshop Registration

If you plan to attend one of the teachers workshops, please see instructions on how to register on each of the individual workshop pages listed above.

If you need an official invitation letter, contact us and we will help you as much as possible. You must contact us early so that we can accommodate your request.

Who should attend?

Every team MUST send at least one instructor. In the past the workshops were targeted specifically towards the instructors. This year, however, students are highly encouraged to attend as well! Portions of the workshops will be specifically geared towards students.

You only have to attend one of the three workshops, whichever one you choose, but you must attend at least one regardless of whether you are a returning iGEM team or not.

Workshop locations

The workshops will be held at MIT in the US, at Imperial College in the UK, and at University of Tokyo in Japan. We welcome any interested iGEM teams to contact us if they would like to host a workshop at their university in future years.

Workshop videos

All of the talks given at the iGEM spring workshop at MIT, held on May 16-17, were video recorded and will be posted online along with the slides from each of the presentations. See the Instructional Videos page for the videos from the workshop.
