TEAM MEMBERS

Cihan TASTAN

Molecular Biology and Genetics Student
He is one of the founders of METU IGEM team. He is the third year student of Molecular Biology and Genetic and his main scientific interest is bioinformatics and synthetic biology. Cihan wants to find solution to diseases like AIDS with integrating his information about bioinformatics and genetic.

Ozkan IS

Biology Student

He is especially interested in neuroscience. In future, he wants to study in neuroscience field integrated with biotechnology. Also he is one of the creators of METU IGEM team and thinks that he can develop himself with this synthetic biology project.

Funda GUZEY

Biology Student

Although we have known her for a short time, she have displayed very well team working. In a summer lab hard working, she became an inseperable part of our team.

Serap MEMIK

Biology Student

She took part in different scientific and social projects in high school. She aims at studying in biotechnology. She wants to develop herself by working on this IGEM project.

Tugce OZ

Biology Student

She is the third year of biology student and especially interested in cancer biology. She thinks that she can find solutions to cancer by developing of molecular biotechnology. Afterwards, she looks forward to learn much about molecular biology by working on the this project of the METU IGEM team.

H.Ezgi KARAKAS

Molecular Biology and Genetics Student

She is interested in mechanisms of neural diseases and wants to find cures to these diseaes with resolving the genetic mechanisms of neural illnesses . She thinks that she can increase her genetic knowledge with this project.

Middle East Technical University or ODTU(in Turkish) is one of the leading international research university of Turkey located in Ankara and it is established in 1956. The main research areas in METU are engineering and natural sciences. METU is considered to be the premier research university in terms of science and engineering in Turkey and it is one of the top ranking university according to university entrance exams. Middle East Technical University currently (according to2008 results) has about 23.000 students of which 4.100 are in masters and 2.400 are in doctorate programmes.METU also hosts more than 4.100 international students from nearly 68 different countries.
