I’m an assistant professor in the Cardiovascular Research Institute and the Dept of Biochemistry at UCSF. I’ve had my own lab at UCSF for 4yrs but have been researching how cells move in response to external cues since I started I first started working with these fascinating cells in grad school. My lab has been heavily involved in science outreach through programs such as the Science and Health Education Partnership What attracted me to Igem was the opportunity to give motivated talented high school students hands-on experience in cutting edge synthetic biology research. The most rewarding portion of the Igem experience is the energy and excitement these terrific Igem students have brought to the lab— they have catalyzed several productive projects that we would not have otherwise pursued.
