Wrapping up the week!
So this week we talked about how to start the project. Got our tool (Mathematica) installed on lab machines. Have gathered great papers on using MC framework and modeling biological systems. Today we played around with Mathematica and started going over MC papers.

Continuation of Bio lectures
We discussed PCR, Restriction digests and plamids isolation today...briefly. Again, Sonja used her MDSC 408 notes to help us follow along. We were asked questions. We were introduced to Lux PQ, Lux OU and sigma 54. We found out where they exist in cell, how and when each are phosphorolated.

Welcome to Second Life
This week Katie, Mandy, Patrick and I entered Second Life for the first time. We each made our avatars (our online representation). My avatar is a pretty cool chick named Freya Innovia. It's amazing how huge this place is! Tons of places to explore and experience but for now we had to learn how to control our characters. After a day, we were quite skilled at knowing what all the buttons do so we jumped straight into a building tutorial. Here we learned how to:
- rez (create) differentshapes like spheres, cubes and cones
- resize, stretch and rotate objects
- make extures, colors and objects which give off light
- link objects and create bigger things from multiple shapes
