Preliminary group organizer in Team SJTU-BioX-Shanghai (iGEM 2009).

Hi there! I am Chu Wu and you may call me David. I am a member of BioX-SJTU-Shanghai iGEM team. Now I am at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City as an international Exchange Student. I used to be a group manager in charge of a project. It is my honor and pleasure to be a leader with so many enthusiastic team members and imaginative ideas. I really appreciate the memory of doing experiments at our lab at Bio-X center and discussing plans at new library.

Synthetic Biology is a very new area for biologists. It is fantastic because we can design our regulatory network do novo without any other limitation except our imagination and just do it. Since we have established the “biobrick”-standard elements database, we can assemble and test our part easily. Moreover, modeling with computer software and algorithm can help understand how it works and provide a norm for the experiments later. I have to thank our team members for doing such a perfect job in the wet lab.

I am now working at Dr. Richard Clark’s Lab as a research assistant. My interest locates at Genomics and bioinformatics. I learned much more than I thought before I went here. In our lab, EJ is my best friend and helped me a lot. I learned SAS and Python language from him and how to do Genome-wide association analysis (GWAS) here.

I am very happy to participate the Jamboree at MIT this fall. I hope to get together with my friends at US and make more new friends with different people all over the world. See you at Boston!
