Silver Nano Particles

Strategy

Unique peptides have been found capable of nucleating metal atoms, spurred by an interest in biomineralization by the prospect of nanoscale building <ref>Naik, R.,''Nat. Materials, 1, 169-172, 2002</ref>. We use a twelve amino-acid long silver binding peptide that has been identified by combinatorial screening [2,3] to nucleate silver nanoparticles. The peptide is tagged with GFP so that it can be monitored along the flow chamber. Several protocols to bio-synthesize silver nanoparticles were tried in parallel, and absorbance of various samples were measured using spectrophotometry.

Methods

Here the basic ideas are introduced.
